Acuity

Acuity is a connected scheduling source for service appointment information. When eligible calendar and appointment data is available through Acuity, Service Intent matches become meaningful — showing real availability, not hypothetical slots.

Note on spelling: This integration connects to Acuity Scheduling. Always spelled without a "qu" — Acuity, not Acquity.

What the integration does

  • ✓Reads eligible calendar availability from your connected Acuity account.
  • ✓Makes real availability visible within Service Intent match responses.
  • ✓Shows available and unavailable slots with meaningful context.
  • ✓Allows buyers to see specific date and time options before expressing intent.

What it does not do

  • ✕Does not automatically book appointments — a calendar match is not a confirmed booking.
  • ✕Bidirectional calendar writes (Flur writing to Acuity) require implementation confirmation.
  • ✕Does not promise specific subscription tier compatibility with all Acuity plans.
  • ✕A matched slot shown to a buyer is not held or reserved until payment is confirmed.

Example: after-work photography session

Service intent: "after-work photography session, Lagos, 2 hours." Acuity connected for a photography studio.

1
Connect Acuity

The studio connects their Acuity account in Commerce → Integrations → Acuity. Flur is granted read access to eligible calendar availability types configured by the merchant.

2
Buyer expresses Service Intent

A buyer submits a Service Intent: "after-work photography session, Lagos, 2 hours." The intent includes timing constraints — after 5pm on weekdays.

3
Availability match

Flur queries the connected Acuity calendar for eligible slots matching the intent parameters. Available slots are shown. Blocked slots appear as unavailable with context.

4
Buyer selects a slot

The buyer sees Tuesday 5:30pm (available) and Thursday 6pm (available). Wednesday 5pm appears as unavailable (blocked). They select Thursday 6pm.

5
Pending booking — not confirmed yet

Selecting a slot creates a pending booking state. The merchant reviews and confirms. Payment completes the booking — these are three distinct stages.

Selecting a slot creates a pending booking. Confirmation and payment are separate steps. The slot is not held until payment is complete.
Important to understand

Calendar match, accepted offer, pending booking and payment are different stages

Each stage is distinct. A buyer selecting a time from Acuity availability does not automatically book or reserve that slot.

Calendar match
›
Accepted offer
›
Pending booking
›
Payment confirmed

The merchant confirms the booking (moving from pending to confirmed). Payment completes the transaction and secures the appointment.

Constraints and limits

Read-only by default
The Acuity integration reads availability. Bidirectional writes — e.g. Flur marking a slot as booked in Acuity — require implementation confirmation for your setup.
Timezone handling
Acuity stores availability in the timezone configured on the appointment type. Flur displays times in the buyer's local timezone where determinable. Ambiguous timezone cases display a timezone label.
Appointment type selection
Not all Acuity appointment types are automatically eligible for Service Intent matching. Merchants configure which types are connected during setup.
Plan compatibility
Specific Acuity subscription tier requirements for API access require confirmation. Contact support to confirm your Acuity plan is compatible before connecting.

Frequently asked questions

Does Acuity automatically book appointments when a buyer selects a slot?
No. Selecting a slot from the availability card creates a pending booking state. The merchant confirms and payment completes the booking. These are distinct stages — no automatic booking happens.
Can Flur write to my Acuity calendar?
Bidirectional calendar writes — Flur marking slots as booked or blocked in Acuity — require implementation confirmation for your specific setup. The default connection is read-only for availability.
How does timezone handling work?
Acuity appointment availability is stored in the timezone set on the appointment type. Flur attempts to display times in the buyer's local timezone. When timezone information is ambiguous, a timezone label is shown alongside the time.
What is a Service Intent match?
Service Intent is a buyer's retained, structured expression of interest in a service — including category, budget, location and timing preferences. When a merchant connects Acuity, real availability data can be shown as part of the match, making the interaction more meaningful.
What happens if a slot shown to a buyer becomes unavailable before they complete payment?
The slot is not held. If availability changes between when the buyer sees the slot and when payment is confirmed, the merchant reviews the conflict. The merchant's calendar is the source of truth.
