Group Split

Available

Who owes what. Clearly.

Group Split allocates a shared cost across multiple people — with adjustments for extras, exclusions and covered amounts. It produces per-person obligations. Confirming the split sends requests. It does not move money automatically.

The problem it solves

When a group shares a cost, equal splits rarely reflect reality — someone had extras, someone was absent from part of the meal, someone is covering another person. Group Split handles these adjustments and makes everyone's share explicit.

Who it's for

Anyone splitting a shared expense: a restaurant bill, an event ticket, a group purchase. The organiser sets the total, adds adjustments, reviews each share, and confirms. Each person sees their individual obligation.

Worked example

₦65,000 dinner. Five people. Real shares.

Ada, Tobi, Chidi, Zara and Amaka share a ₦65,000 dinner. Zara had drinks (+₦5,000) and was excluded from dessert. Ada is covering Amaka's share. The split reflects each person's actual situation — not a uniform division.

  • Ada₦14,000 (own share + covering Amaka)
  • Tobi₦10,000 (standard share)
  • Chidi₦10,000 (standard share)
  • Zara₦21,000 (std + drinks, excl. dessert)
  • Amaka₦0 — covered by Ada

What confirming means

Organiser confirming = approving the reviewed split and sending requests. Not withdrawing from everyone's accounts. Each person is notified of their share and can pay.

Organiser confirm split?

Confirming = approving reviewed requests. Money does NOT move automatically.

Illustrative example

*Zara excluded from dessert portion. Shares are illustrative and may not sum to ₦65,000 in this simplified display.

What it does

Three adjustments. One clear result.

Extras

Add extra charges per person — like Zara's ₦5,000 drinks. The extra is added to that person's share only.

Exclusions

Exclude a person from a cost category — like Zara excluded from dessert. Their base share is adjusted accordingly.

Covered amounts

Mark one person's share as covered by another — like Amaka covered by Ada. The covered person shows ₦0 outstanding, not "unpaid".

How it compares

Group Split vs Split Pay

Group Split

· Multiple people, one shared cost

· Allocates who owes what

· Produces per-person obligations

· Each person pays their own share

· Organiser confirms after review

Split Pay

· One person, multiple funding sources

· Funds a single payment amount

· Each source leg tracked separately

· Not about who owes what

· Works alongside Group Split
